NEW: Saturday Skill Share Series (16+)
with TCR Team
This Saturday series brings six distinguished theatre experts to our TCR classroom, each sharing their unique specialties with the community in a format that blends the excitement of TED Talks with hands-on workshop experiences.
From the art of directing and mastering dialects, to the fundamentals of acting and aceing the audition process, our series covers a diverse range of topics essential to every theatre enthusiast.
Classes are Saturdays from 9AM-12PM.
Registration is Flexible and Pay What You Can: the value of the entire series is $150, but select the price point that works best for you at checkout. Participants do not need to attend every session to register. RSVP emails will be sent out the week prior to classes.
3/23- "How to Perform the Piece": A Scene Study Studio, with Patrick Du Laney (Broadway's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Crooked Path Theatre, Director of TCR's Woman In Black)
3/30- "How to Live Inside a Song": Acting for Musical Theatre, with Chris Okiishi (Crooked Path Theatre, SPT Theatre, Director of TCR's Rock of Ages and Mamma Mia)
4/6- "How to Dissect a Dialect": Dialects and Accent Work, with Katy Hahn (Associate Professor of Theatre, Acting at University of Northern Iowa)
4/13- "How to Become Someone New": Creating and Developing a Character, with Carrie Pozdol (Area Intimacy Director and Director of TCR's A Doll's House)
4/20- "How to Set the Stage": Directing Basics and Principles, with Angie Toomsen (TCR's Producing Artistic Director)
4/27- "How to Audition with Confidence": Audition Tips, Tricks and Traps, with Janelle Lauer (SPT Theater, Music Director of TCR's Wizard of Oz, Something Rotten, Rock of Ages and more!)

High School Masterclass: Costumes and Cosplay (9th-12th)
with TCR Team
In this weeklong camp, students will explore the art of cosplay (costume play), which is incredibly popular in comic-cons around the country. With the help of a local costuming expert and a local crafting expert, create new costumes and become different characters only you can imagine!
TCRGrow classes take the foundation of theatre training a step further with practical application. Adding in skills based training in dance, music, tech and more- these classes emphasize learning in real time!

Summer Youth Production: Chicago: Teen Edition (8th-12th)

TCR’s Summer Youth Production 2023:
Chicago: Teen Edition, Book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, Script adaptation by David Thompson
Directed by Mic Evans.
Starting June 17th through August 9th- 1PM-4 PM. (There will be no camps July 1-5 in observance of the 4th of July Holiday.)
Performances: August 10th and 11th at 4PM.
“In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap... until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and acquittal.”

In this weeklong class, high school technicians will get a hands on opportunity to learn the basics of light and sound design from a TCR professional! The Grandon Theater will become a sound and lights lab: come, learn and take the skills back to your high school theatre program!
TCRGrow classes take the foundation of theatre training a step further with practical application. Adding in skills based training in dance, music, tech and more- these classes emphasize learning in real time!
